Synopsis

A fresh new revival of Samuel Beckett’s classic theatre-changing play is returning to the West End from September 2024 for a limited run. Starring the respected stars of film, TV and stage Lucian Msamati, who thrilled us in Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom and Death in Paradise, and Ben Whishaw of Mojo and Hamlet fame, it remains one of the greatest plays of the 20th century.

Waiting For Godot – The Story
Waiting For Godot is all about Vladimir and Estragon, two men who wait by a tree for a man called Godot. They don’t know who he is, why they’re meeting him or when he’s going to arrive, but they do know something incredible could happen when he does.

Godot keeps sending messages that he’s on the way, but will he ever turn up? Lucky and Pozzo join the conversation and decide not to end it all despite their sufferings. While Vladimir and Estragon don’t feel they really belong anywhere, they’re looking for Godot to supply enlightenment. The resulting hope they feel helps them to rise above their futile existence.

Waiting For Godot cast and creative team
Two respected actors take the starring roles – Ben Wishaw and Lucian Msamati. Lucian Msamati’s long list of theatre credits includes Master Harrold and the Boys, Amadeus, A Wolf in Snakeskin Shoes, and many more, along with a load of excellent work on TV and in the movies. Starring alongside him will be the multi award-winning British actor Ben Wishaw (The Seagull, Paddington)

Directed by James Macdonald, the rest of the creatives will be announced nearer the time, as will the remaining cast.

This is your chance to see one of the world’s most influential plays, an eccentric and thoroughly enjoyable exploration of the human condition.
