Synopsis

MI6. CIA. KGB. LOL… are you ready for some funny? This is the perfect play to get your funny bones going, fresh from the creators of The Play That Goes Wrong and just as potty. Welcome to The Comedy About Spies, an action packed, totally hilarious West End treat.

This madcap play about Cold War spies delivers farce at its finest. Expect a feast of misunderstandings, miscommunication and mistaken identity from the always-riotous Mischief Theatre.

The Comedy About Spies – the story
This extremely silly action-packed comedy thriller is set in 1960s London, where a rogue British agent steals the plans for a new top secret weapon. Spies from the CIA and KGB get together at the Piccadilly Hotel to plan how to find the mole and get the file back. But when three actors auditioning for the title role in the first James Bond film, Dr No, arrive at the hotel, things start to go very wrong. As the stakes on stage reach boiling point, so do the laughs.

About The Comedy About Spies
Mischief Theatre was founded in 2008 by Henry Lewis, Jonathan Sayer and Henry Shields, students at the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art. Originally creating brilliant improvised comedic shows, in 2012 they took their first step into theatre. Since then their unique blend of physical comedy, brilliant playwrighting, choreography, stunts and gags has always gone down a storm.

The fictional Cornley Polytechnic Drama Society made the team’s name thanks to The Play That Goes Wrong, an award-winner, and their TV series The Goes Wrong Show was just as popular. They join Mischief’s productions The Comedy About A Bank Robbery, Magic Goes Wrong, Peter Pan Goes Wrong, Mind Mangler, and Mischief Movie Night.

The Comedy About Spies cast and creatives
The Comedy About Spies is written by original Mischief company members Henry Lewis and Henry Shields, directed by Matt Di Carlo, and produced by Kenny Wax and Stage Presence in association with Jo Danvers.

The new spy comedy from Mischief Theatre is a must-see for its hilarious mix of chaotic misadventures, clever twists, and signature slapstick humor that will leave you laughing from start to finish.
