This is an adaption of the incredibly popular 1988 animated feature film by Hayao Miyazaki. It’s brought to the stage by the original composer Joe Hisaishi and it’s a fresh new adaptation by the Royal Shakespeare Company. It’s written by the playwright Tom Morton-Smith.

The show is directed by Phelim McDermott. The production design is by Tom Pye and the costume design by Kimie Nakano. Lighting design comes from Jessica Hung Han Yun. Described as a ‘ground-breaking production’, it stars puppetry created by Basil Twist and music from Joe Hisaishi’s iconic score. Her sister doesn’t believe her at first but soon they’re both enjoying exciting adventures with their new neighbours. Together, the sisters find themselves transported to an ancient realm of spirits, sprites, and natural wonders.
