A Chinese Christmas
By Trent Foo
Synopsis
It’s Christmas Eve in Sydney, and for the first time, HeePa is hosting the annual gathering. He’s decorated the Christmas Tree with trinkets and memorabilia, each with its own story. But when his ghostly ancestors visit him in the dead of night, he embarks on a journey where stories are shared, memories revisited, and family past, present, and future become intertwined.
A Chinese Christmas is a heartwarming, nostalgic, and often silly tale about a boy and his grandmother. Through a mix of music (音乐), dialogue (对话), and dance (跳舞), the show delves into the complexities of growing up Chinese in Australia, and the unique result of blending the two cultures together. A love letter to the ones who raised us—a celebration of family, heritage, and the ties that connect us across generations.
